Now, to get some toys for your cool new toys.

Hope­fully you received a few cool toys in your Christ­mas stock­ing this year…I know I did. But now the dilemma, some toys do need accessor­ies to ‘com­plete’ them.

For example, the iPod I men­tioned here is a very nice unit, so much so that I want to pro­tect it from the other con­tents of my back­pack, or my small dog.

Cue the Pro­porta cata­logue. Yep, you can find a few nifty things to enhance and com­ple­ment your tech­no­logy, as I did for my iPod Nano.

The Alu-Crystal Case is a cool little unit. Once side is clear polycar­bon­ate plastic, the other Proporta’s trade­mark air­craft grade aluminium.

One great fea­ture is these little rub­ber bumps, and a black fric­tion pad on the alu­minium back. They’re used to keep the iPod Nano securely inside the case, yet allow easy extrac­tion of the Nano when you really need to get at it.

There’s one access hole at the top, to let you get to the ‘hold’ lock­ing switch, another big round one on the front for access to the iPod click wheel.

The bot­tom of the Alu-Crystal Case is com­pletely open, though flush with the bot­tom of the iPod Nano. To use a dock­ing adaptor, you’d have to slide the Nano slightly out of the case.

I was a bit con­cerned at that the case would make the iPod a bit more bulky. Not to worry, the unit is as sleek as ever, but now the lovely Apple iPod fin­ish won’t get battered by the other stuff in my pack.

I know, it’s a bit hard to make the iPod Nano bet­ter (other than ditch­ing iTunes), but the pro­tec­tion offered by the Alu-Crystal Case increases my com­fort level.
