Working online with nothing…

It seems so weird. Many places in this world, folks are making money by playing games, and creating virtual items for sale to other players in their own virtual world. How do you assign a value to something that isn’t really real? Sure, someone took time to play the game, grind out the XP or collect the gold, but it’s not a tangible thing.
Maybe that’s important. The 21st Century is not your fathers century. Values change, entertainment options change. Maybe it’s worthwhile to check it out, and see how you can profit…I am. Turned on to this concept at yardley.ca and the fine Fortune Magazine article.

How many blades does a man need?
Filed Under Uncategorized | 1 Comment
Ok, really. I thought three blades would suffice. I’m a simple guy with simple needs. Razor with vibration? Who needs it. I received one free from Costco a while back and notice no difference in the quality of my cut. But hey, I’m pedestrian.
So now you can have five blades (plus one extra precision trimmer flipped over on the razor’s back — sideburns..etc). Well, it may keep the shareholders happy, but you won’t see me rushing out to get one. Until they stop selling refills for mine, that is.

Review: Complete Guide to Geocaching DVD
Filed Under Uncategorized | Comments Off
A good friend ordered the aforementioned DVD and offered to review it for the local GeoCaching community:
“This is the definitive video featuring the exciting sport of Geocaching. Whether you are an active player or have just heard about Geocaching, this great video program is for you. Get your questions answered. Share the sport with your friends. It’s all right here.”
I ordered this item a few weeks ago through GPSCITY.ca on-line for $21.95 CDN along with some Travel Bugs and other GeoSwag. I really thought long an hard about ordering it at first, mainly because like you I already consider myself a seasoned geocacher (with 149 finds under my boots already). So, what could there possibly be in this DVD for me I thought? I’m sure you feel the same so let’s take a closer look.

Scientists separate spin from speech!
Filed Under Uncategorized | Comments Off
What do you know, some rather bright computer scientists over at Queen’s University have used a computer progam to analyze recent campaign speeches.
…analysed the usage patterns of 88 deception-linked words within the text of recent campaign speeches from the political leaders. They then determined the frequency of these patterns in each speech, and averaged that number over all of that candidate’s speeches. Martin received a ranking of 124, while Harper and Layton scored 73 and 88, respectively.

What the heck…I’m a Pro-User Zealot
Filed Under Uncategorized | Comments Off
As long as Canadians concerned about Canadian Digital Rights, Copyright..etc, are going to be branded, we may as well wear the brand with pride
So here’s a bumper sticker for ya!
Ironically, I think almost anyone in the IT customer service sector should be a Pro-User Zealot! What’s the opposite, an Anti-User Zealot??

Now you can DELETE your Gmail…
Filed Under Uncategorized | Comments Off

Yep, if you use Gmail (as I do) you now have a Delete button for unwanted email. Before it was buried in the dropdown menu under More Actions… Previously, it was called ‘Move to Trash…’
As far as I know, Google really doesn’t want people deleting their email, as it gives their data mining algorithms much more fodder to chew over, so by increasing the prominence of the button, they really appear to be listening to their users.
Well done Google!
